Types of Mesothelioma
It is very easy to be confused when a doctor talks about different types of mesothelioma.
Mesothelioma is cancer that is formed in mesothelium, a double layer of protective cells that surrounds most of your organs. The mesothelium produces lubricant between its two layers, that allows your organs to move freely against each other in your body. The presence of mesothelioma cancer causes this layer to thicken and become restrictive. This is often why the first symptoms of pleural mesothelioma is shortness of breath. As the disease progresses and the mesothelium becomes larger and more inflexible, your lungs lose the ability to move freely and your ability to breath becomes constrained.
Mesothelioma is divided into several types depending on how it is being discussed. |
